On October 6, 2014, Quy Nhon Port welcomed a special train carrying more than 2,000 beef cows from Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group imported from abroad.
This is the number of cows imported under the investment cooperation agreement “The project of raising dairy cows, beef cattle and building a processing factory” between 3 companies, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company (HAGL), Nutifood and Vissan signed in early June 2014.
This cooperation project has an investment of about VND 11,000 – 12,000 billion; In particular, the project of raising dairy cows and beef cows invested by HAGL with a capital of about VND 6,300 billion, when completed in 2015, will have a total of 236,000 cow and dairy cow herds (120,000 dairy cows. and 116,000 beef cows). Beef cattle are imported from Thailand, Australia; Dairy cows imported from Australia, New Zealand and USA.
Doan Nguyen Duc, Chairman of HAGL Group, said that the first 60,000 beef cows from Thailand will be imported to Vietnam. Each cow has an average price of US $ 700, a cow about 18 months old, weighing 250kg, after 7 months of raising, every day up to 1.5kg will have the first batch of beef, each weighing 500kg.
The dairy factory project, invested by Nutifood, will start in September 2014 with a production scale of phase 1 of about 290 million liters of fresh milk; phase 2 increases the capacity of the milk factory to 500 million liters of fresh milk / year. The amount of beef and cow’s milk created from this cooperation project will be consumed by Vissan Company.
According to Vissan’s statistics, every day the total demand for beef across the country is 3,000, of which the city market. Ho Chi Minh City is 600 children, the price of imported beef is high, so this cooperation will create favorable conditions for consumers to use quality, competitive beef.
